Climate Change & Health Professions Education

This special collection from Intersections: The Education Journal of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center describes educational initiatives within the Emory health professional schools and Emory Healthcare that address climate change. This collection of seven manuscripts features collaborations from an impressively large group of 33 current and former students, staff, and faculty authors across four schools-Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and Law.

An Updated Framework to Reduce Implicit Bias and Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Pharmacy Residency Recruitment

Evaluation of existing processes for resident or employee recruitment can identify potential sources of bias and lead to modification of screening, interview, and selection processes. New frameworks can include clear, objective criteria for assessment of candidates.

A Case-Based Approach to Teaching Adolescent Biological and Psychosocial Development

This case addressing the clinical assessment of adolescent physical and psychological development would be relevant to students of any health profession that addresses childhood disease, well childcare, or human development. The teaching notes demonstrate how a cognitive apprenticeship approach can be used to teach fundamental biology and clinical skills together via an authentic “whole task” case, such as an annual visit.

Storytelling as the Bridge Between Trust and Visibility: A Pedagogical Imperative in Uncertain Times
