Understanding the Lived Experiences of Faculty of Color in Nursing Academia
Faculty of color (FOC) help to increase diversity in the nursing workforce. Their presence in academia provides models and mentors for diverse students. The lives experiences of FOC in predominantly white institutions involve feelings of impostership, not belonging, and lacking a sense of support. Addressing negative experiences of FOC supports retention of FOC and advances diversity, equity, and inclusion.
